Chords & Cadence: Resilience, Love & Hope brings together Baltimore’s own Wordsmith, multi-disciplinary spoken word artist and BSO Artistic Partner since 2020, with violinist Meira Silverstein, who has shared the stage with Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Enya. Wordsmith’s songs rise out of R&B and hip-hop, genres shaped by struggle and survival, carrying messages of strength and love. Alongside him, Silverstein and friends perform classical works written in the shadow of war and persecution, or by artists who simply had to fight to be heard at all. It’s a program for listeners who love the concert hall and listeners who’ve never set foot in one – a rare crossing of tradition and today, and proof that resilience, love, and hope sound the same no matter where they come from.
