China Date Ranch (Tecopa, CA)

📢Welcome! This hike welcomes new participants as well as familiar faces! 📌 This is a 6-mile point-to-point hike, starting near Death Valley Brewery and ending at China Ranch Date Farm, on a trail that’s primarily flat and offers a variety of gravel roads, dirt paths, tall reeds, thickets, marshland, a waterfall, railroad embankments & incredible views of a very unusual landscape. HIKE STATS: Distance: 6 miles Elevation Gain: 200 feet Difficulty: slightly strenuous due to distance. Pace: slow to moderate Duration: 8 hours (includes hiking, driving, and gift shop/date shakes) Class: all class 1 Exposure: none Gear Backpack Hiking shoes 2-3L of water, sun protection, snacks & electrolytes trekking poles are helpful but not required -No guests, children, pets, or event crashers, please! -All attendees must be members of VegasHikers. It only takes a few minutes to sign up and is FREE. Everything I Need To Know Before I Arrive We will form carpools at the Late Night Trailhead parking lot on Nevada 160 (aka Pahrump Hwy) which is 4.7 miles west of the Blue Diamond Travel Center (at the junction of NV 160 and NV 159). (New attendees are required to fill out a participant waiver form) This event is being crossposted with LVHikers *NOTE: Each passenger is responsible for paying their driver $10 for gas and mileage. 4WD and HCV are not needed,* although the last half mile into and out of China Ranch Date Farm is a steep dirt road. Because we need to minimize the number of drivers, we’re looking for vehicles with 4 seat belts. We’ll carpool/caravan 57 miles/about 1-hr to Tecopa. Upon arriving in Tecopa, all hikers and gear will be left near the brewery while the drivers take all vehicles 6 miles to China Ranch Date Farm.
