Chicago River Slow Walk Merch Mart to Wild Mile

Starting at Merchandise Mart, we will walk along the North Branch of the Chicago River. This area has been elegantly upgraded for walkers and bikers. We will go to the old Montgomery Ward warehouses at Chicago Ave, and continue to Wild Mile (across from Goose Island). Wild Mile is the world's first floating eco-park and the flagship project of Urban Rivers. There is a Whole Foods nearby, where we can stop for picnic supplies to enjoy at Wild Mile. We will meet outside the Mart, by the pillars of Chicago's "august tycoons", at the east most bust, (of Gen. Robert E. Wood). See photo. NOTE: Be prepared for lots of STAIRS, as access to the river is not continuous. NOTE: This is a one way walk, not a loop walk. I strongly recommend public transportation, Brown Line to Merchandise Mart, (or Blue Line to Clark & Lake). OR you could park near Wild Mile, and take the Red Line downtown, so you have your car to get home. (Wild Mile is near REI store at 905 W Eastman St )
