Changing the narrative on suicide

The New Bedford Police Department, alongside our community partners, will be hosting our Changing the Narrative on Suicide event on Thursday, September 10, 2026, beginning at 6:30 PM at River’s End Park in New Bedford. This evening will bring our community together for remembrance, hope, healing, and suicide prevention awareness. It is an opportunity to honor those we have lost, support those who may be struggling, and remind our community that no one has to face difficult moments alone. A special thank you to our incredible partners who are helping make this event possible: Department of Mental Health, Child & Family Services, Greater New Bedford Suicide Prevention Coalition, Steppingstone, Gifford Street, High Point, NAACP, New Bedford Health Department, and Achieve Greatness.
