Chain Gang: Fused Links and Chains

Saturday, November 14, 2026 | 10A - 4P | One-day workshop | $175 Explore strategies for making unique chains and linkages. Learn about Argentium silver fusion with wire to make a selection of chains from delicate to bold, classical to funky! We will focus on efficient techniques for working with Argentium silver fusion to make chain links. Learn to fuse, form links, and fabricate chains that are fused rather than soldered. Paulette will cover chain design, history, fabrication, fusion, and clean up through demonstration, chain samples, individual guidance and handouts. Demonstrations will include working in a variety of gauges and chain styles with the end goal of making a chain bracelet or necklace. Chain styles include loop in loop chain, paperclip chain, forged links, milled links and focal links, clasps and closures. Techniques covered include plier forming, hammer texturing, fusing set up for short cuts and efficiency, soldering, torch control, and cleanup. Open to students from beginner to advanced. Supplies: A materials kit will be available for purchase from Paulette. Expect to pay $50-65, depending upon the metals market. The kit includes Argentium silver wire for two chain styles, clean-up tools, and more. Advanced students should bring basic hand tools (i.e., pliers, files, saw, and #2/0 saw blades). Studio tools are available for all other students. Bench Time: Bench Time is included with registration for 2 weeks after the class to finish your projects. Guest Artist: Paulette Werger Register
