About this event

Mary Baldwin Room, Main Level. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the program "Give Me Your Hand: A Celtic Musical Celebration." For centuries music played a central role in the cultures of Ireland and the Celtic nations. And for centuries there were attempts to eradicate their music, instruments, and culture. Our program will highlight delightful selections from the Edward Bunting Collections, first published in 1796. Entwyned will perform and describe Celtic music from Bunting adapted to our instruments: Celtic harp, lutes, historic guitars, Baroque flutes, Viola da Gamba, and mandolin. Entwyned Early Music performs music from the 15th to the 21st centuries. Their delightful repertoire includes jazz, folk, and classical arrangements for their historic instruments. This Connecticut-based trio features Dee Hansen on Baroque & Renaissance Flutes, Lever Harp, and Baroque Guitar; Eric Hansen on Lutes, Baroque and Parlor guitars; and Neal Humphreys on Viola de gamba. Registration required. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cheshire Public Library.
