About this event
CLICK FOR INFO If you’ve been to any major live music act in the DC Region over the last 50 years one name had a bigger and still lasting impact on the artists and venues you saw than any other: Cellar Door Concerts. Join Friends of the Cellar Door and After Dark Fund in the Sanctuary for an afternoon of stories from the people who were there at the beginning. Doors 3pm FREE Admission! Donations encouraged for After Dark Fund Refreshments available (an informal reception will follow the program) From its humble presence as a small nightclub to when the Capital Centre opened in December 1973, Cellar Door Concerts began its path to becoming one of the biggest concert promoters in the country, soon to be known as Cellar Door Productions. Part reunion, part panel discussion & history lesson, hear first hand from the people who built Cellar Door Concerts into a music industry powerhouse. Come share your favorite concert memories, and learn how this live music behemoth began at the Georgetown nightclub of the same name, driven by names like Jack Boyle, Dave Williams, Sam L'Hommedieu and more. Photos, ads, concert reviews, general ephemera and video will be on display, from the Capital Centre Collection at University of Maryland, Mike Bargeron collection, concert photographer David Werth, and more. --- COMMUNITY-POWERED EVENT!
