Cascade Waterfalls Hike

Cascade Park offers rivers, waterfalls, and hemlock forests just minutes from downtown Elyria. Inside this 145-acre park the east and west branches of the Black River cascade over Berea sandstone converge. Cascade Park has trails for all park visitors. The park’s trail diverse trail system features beautiful views of the Black River throughout. The asphalt trail overlooks the river while connecting the park’s two playgrounds. The park’s towering waterfalls can be viewed by traveling along asphalt trails that overlook the ledges or on the primitive, natural trails among the ledges that include wooden bridges and rocks to climb. The trails can be accessed via the main entrance parking lot near the large playground. The area is especially beautiful when the waterfalls and nearby trees are frozen. This hike is for more experienced hikers. The hike is moderate to difficult depending on the conditions with some stairs to climb. We will view both falls. After the hike we will have dinner at The Foundry in Elyria.
