The Cape Cod Children’s Museum & Discovery Center and the Massachusetts Alternative Septic System Test Center (MASSTC) will celebrate Cape Cod Clean Water Week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and preview of the new interactive exhibit, Cape Cod Poops: Flushed But Never Away. This special RSVP-only event will bring together local Select Board members, town committee members, elected officials, local and state political leaders, community partners, and other invited guests for a first look at the exhibit and an opportunity to celebrate Cape Cod’s shared commitment to clean water. Cape Cod Poops: Flushed But Never Away uses humor, hands-on learning, and interactive exploration to demonstrate what really happens after a toilet is flushed and why wastewater management is so important to Cape Cod. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the exhibit and learn about: How septic systems work and what happens after the flush The connection between wastewater and Cape Cod’s groundwater The importance of water conservation and stewardship How everyday household decisions can affect local water resources The history and evolution of the toilet Why protecting clean water is a community-wide responsibility Ribbon Cutting & Exhibit Preview The event will feature a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, remarks from participating organizations and community leaders, and a private preview of the interactive exhibit. The gathering will provide local leaders and community partners with an opportunity to experience the exhibit firsthand and learn how environmental education can help introduce the next generation to the importance of protecting Cape Cod’s water resources. The exhibit was developed through collaboration between the Cape Cod Children’s Museum and the Massachusetts Alternative Septic System Test Center (MASSTC).
