About this event
A beautiful hike through the high country above Los Alamos. Likely to have golden aspens and absolutely sure to have dramatic overlooks of the Valles Caldera. The total round-trip hiking distance is about 6 miles with about 650 ft. of elevation gain. Hiking is on abandoned road and good trail. At a minimum, bring a rain jacket or equivalent, drink and snack or lunch. We will stop at an overlook for lunch before returning the way we came. The 8:30 am start time is when we will depart Santa Fe. We will get up to the trailhead at about 9:30 am. Carpooling is encouraged. The total driving distance is 82 mi. with a suggested driver reimbursement of $8/rider.
