About this event
This Wednesday class, 11:30am - 1:00pm, meets weekly a total of 12 times, Sept. 11th - Dec. 4th. No class on 11/27. Single class semester tuition is $325 and covers all tuition and material costs. A non-refundable deposit of $75 reserves a seat in this class. Ages 10-13 Class Description: Caldecott Award stories are the springboard for introducing units of studies where students will write both analytically and creatively. This semester we’ll read and analyze short stories and poems and engage in friendly active discussions. Students will work to write well crafted and well researched essays with attention to clear and grammatically correct writing. Building on this clarity of thought, students will be challenged to think deeply and write about themselves and topics important to them in descriptive, logical and evocative ways. Grammar, mechanics and usage as well as research skills will be taught. This semester students can expect to write poetry, descriptive essays, narrative essays and research and write reports. Because language arts lessons focus so intensely on words we will also look to art, drama, music, movement and observation of the natural world as key ingredients to building openings for developing writers to safely experiment with writing technique.
