Enjoy Science Saturday at New Mexico Museum of Space History Alamogordo, NM — Kids and families can explore creativity, engineering, and sustainability during Science Saturday: Recycle Rockets Space Crafting Lab on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the New Horizons Dome Theater and Planetarium. This family-friendly STEM activity shows participants how to transform recycled materials into imaginative rockets and spacecraft with purpose and an eye on the importance of shape, structure, balance, spacecraft components and mission-inspired details. Participants are asked to bring clean, lightweight recycled items from home like cardboard tubes, small boxes, and scrap paper to personalize their projects. Recycled materials will also be on hand to help visitors building their own space-ready art. The program is designed for school-aged children and their families to work at their own pace with events like: • Hands-on recycled rocket crafting • Space-themed STEM learning • Demonstrations about rocket and spacecraft design • Creative building with everyday materials • A family-friendly, come and go activity Science Saturday is included with regular museum admission and free for current museum members.
