Bring new life to old family archives – Chris Fischbach

Join former Coffee House Press publisher and current literary agent Chris Fischbach as he leads a laid-back three-hour workshop exploring different creative activities you can do with your family archives. Do you have boxes of old family journals, letters, photographs, records, and receipts from multiple generations of relatives, but not know what to do with them? Why not use these “family archives” as inspiration, material, and jumping-off points for creativity? Come to class with a general idea of what your archives contain, such as old family journals, letters, photos, maps, documents like marriage licenses and birth certificates, shopping lists, keepsakes, ticket stubs, travel documents, passports, etc. You don’t need to bring any of this with you, but you are welcome to. Please bring a notebook and something to write with. You will leave the class with ideas for new ways to discover, create, and make something new from something old. You will also have something your family can cherish for years to come. Bring the past to life and make your ancestors proud as their archives inspire you to create, tell their story in words or collage, tell it slant, or create a different world with them as characters. Additional information: This workshop is open to families and participants ages 12+. Advanced registration required.
