Brick by Brick: Researching the History of Your Omaha Home

About this event

Have you ever wondered who lived in your home before you, or where the street you live on got its name? Maybe you’re curious about your neighborhood’s development over time, or if any notable residents traveled the same sidewalks you’re traveling now? Join us for a deep dive into unlocking the history of your Omaha home and the Dundee neighborhood it helped build. Whether you’re a longtime resident, new homeowner, renter, student, preservationist, or just plain curious, this program will help guide you through: Available property records, maps, and city directories Architecture, building, and design trends over time Uncovering relevant articles and stories Tools and collections available through other area institutions Information sharing and contributions to preserving community memory Come with an address -- leave with history. You are welcome to bring your own laptop or iPad so you can conduct your own research during the program. Also bring any interesting paperwork, photos, or items that are specific to your house or neighborhood to share. Registration is required and opens September 1. All Omaha Public Library locations are wheelchair accessible. Need sign language interpretation or other accessibility assistance for this event?
