Brandee Younger & Lakecia Benjamin, two of the 21st century’s brightest stars, come together for a genre-defying night of music rooted deeply in jazz, drawing influence from classical, soul, R&B, and hip-hop. Harpist, composer, and bandleader Brandee Younger is steeped in the music of spiritual jazz pioneer Alice Coltrane. Her latest album Gadabout Season focuses on Younger’s original compositions and is “an open-ended narrative of life’s highs and lows.” Saxophonist, composer, and arranger Lakecia Benjamin, also deeply influenced by Alice and John Coltrane, brings a sound that is uniquely her own - melodic, assertive, and vital.
