About this event

Presented by: Tickets for Alua Arthur will be available to reserve here on Friday, December 18th, 2026 at 10:00 AM MST. Center for the Arts, Teton County Library, and The Jackson Hole News&Guide are pleased to present the fourth season of the Brainstorm Speaker Series with support from The Library Foundation and Friends! Please join us January 28th, for an evening with Alua Arthur! **New this year, any seats that remain empty 10 minutes before showtime will be offered to patrons on the standby waitlist. This will help ensure that this free series reaches as many members of the Jackson community as possible.** Alua Arthur Everybody has thought about death, and death doula Alua Arthur won’t let you pretend you haven’t. Her TED Talk, “Why Thinking About Death Helps You Live a Better Life,” has been viewed millions of times, her memoir Briefly Perfectly Human debuted on the NYT bestseller list, and her end-of-life planning, training, and support organization Going with Grace has trained almost 4,000 death doulas in 58 countries — all proof that people are hungrier than they let on for real talk about mortality. A recovering lawyer and perpetual seeker of nothing to be found, Alua traded her law career for a front row seat to life’s biggest questions, discovering along the way that facing death head-on is what taught her how to actually live. A media fixture, her work has taken her onto CBS Mornings and into Disney’s Limitless docuseries alongside Chris Hemsworth, and she’s been written up everywhere from The New York Times and Vogue to the LA Times — proof that the conversation she’s starting isn’t a niche one, it’s as old as humankind itself, and she believes the world is finally ready. Alua isn’t here to make death any less scary by avoiding it. She’s here to make life fuller by being present with it — grief, jewelry habits, fear, quirks, plantains, love and all.
