About this event
Book Club where we will read from a choice of books that cover a different theme each month. This month's theme is Indigenous Horror - read any horror book by an indigenous author. (This list was curated to include indigenous authors who are deemed as belonging to a tribe and authentic.... however, I am not a perfect curator so if any author has been flagged as fraudulently identifying as indigenous when there is no proof that they are, feel free to let me know.) Here is a list of some suggested titles - Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology by Shane Hawk (Editor) and Theodore C. Van Alst (Editor) Tribal Screams by Owl Goingback Taaqtumi: An Anthology of Arctic Horror Stories By Aviaq Johnston Bad Cree: A Novel by Jessica Johns Sisters of the Lost Nation; or The Whistler by Nick Medina The Only Good Indians; or My Heart is a Chainsaw; or I was a Teenage Slasher; or Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones Night of the Living Rez by Morgan Talty Zegaajimo: Indigenous Horror Fiction edited by Nathan Niigan Noodin Adler and Kateri Akiwenzie-Damm Midnight Storm Moonless Sky: Indigenous Horror Stories By Alex Soop Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline The Sleeping Sisters; or Salt Bones by Jennifer Givhan Lithium Fire by Liam Taliesin Joe by Carol Rose Goldeneagle (Daniels) Exposure by Ramona Emerson Passing Through a Prairie Country by Dennis Staples If the Dead Belong Here by Carson Faust Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger Winter Counts by David Heska Wanbli-Welden Feel free to read something not on the list!
