About this event
Join Pro-Choice Washington for an unforgettable evening with bestselling novelist Laurie Frankel, whose acclaimed novels illuminate the deeply human stories behind the political threats to undermine bodily autonomy, privacy, and reproductive freedom. In her newest novel, Enormous Wings, a 77-year-old Texas woman who finds herself at the center of a political and media frenzy when she experiences a fluke pregnancy. Frankel’s beloved novel This Is How It Always Is introduced readers to a Seattle family navigating love, identity, and the experience of raising a transgender daughter. Together, these novels ask profound questions: Who deserves privacy? Who deserves agency? Who gets to decide what happens to their own body? These books are moving, funny, heartbreaking, and ultimately hopeful. Frankel reminds us that policies debated in legislatures are lived by real people. The evening will begin with a conversation featuring Laurie Frankel, followed by a panel discussion with Pro-Choice Washington Executive Director Sami Alloy, Washington Attorney General Nick Brown, abortion providers, and other elected leaders from across our region. Together, they’ll explore how these themes are playing out beyond the page as we work to defend abortion access, protect the privacy and dignity of transgender people, and build a Northwest where everyone has the freedom to determine their own destiny. Events are offered for informational, entertainment, and educational purposes only. Read Town Hall’s Program Content Policy.
