About this event

Book Launch Party: Notes to New Mothers Wednesday, November 11 | 5:30–6:30 PM Reception Hall Free; Registration Required Join CAM and UNCW Writers’ Week for the launch of Notes to New Mothers, a new collection of essays, reflections, and artwork exploring the complexities, joys, and challenges of early motherhood. Enjoy an evening of readings and conversation with editors Rebecca Knight and Julie Buntin, joined by contributors Emily Louise Smith and KaToya Ellis Fleming. Born from conversations between two friends navigating the early days of motherhood, Notes to New Mothers brings together 65 acclaimed writers and artists, including Julia Phillips, Kirstin Valdez Quade, Liana Finck, Jenny Slate, and Naima Coster. Through candid, humorous, and deeply personal reflections, the collection explores the physical and emotional realities of postpartum life, shifting identities, relationships, and the unexpected moments that define early parenthood. Both a companion for new mothers and a window into their experiences for family and friends, Notes to New Mothers offers a fresh perspective on motherhood as both an individual and shared experience. A book signing will follow the reading. Pomegranate Books will have copies available for purchase at the event.
