Bon Tempe Lake Loop Hike. 4.2 miles/170 ft elev gain/loss

Hi Ladies! Join us for this beautiful 4.2 mile, fairly flat hike (170 ft elev. gain) around gorgeous Bon Tempe Lake near Fairfax! This loop hike hugs the shoreline of Bon Tempe with the north side featuring an open area, while the remainder of the shoreline travels through wooded areas. The dam has great views of Bon Tempe and Alpine Lakes, and Mount Tamalpais. We will hike the loop in the counterclockwise direction. The hike will begin at the Lake Lagunitas Parking lot which is located at the very end of Sky Oaks Road. The sign at the Parking Lot says "Lake Lagunitas Picnic Area" but don't be fooled -- the Bon Tempe Lake loop can also be accessed from this Lot. There is ample parking and bathrooms. We will meet near the bathrooms. Please note there is an $8.00 Park fee at the entrance to the Sky Oaks Headquarters entrance kiosk. You will need to stop at the kiosk just past the Ranger gate and pay the fee and then drive on to the end of Sky Oaks Road to the parking lot. Although the lake loop is fairly flat there are a few steep areas where good footing is required, so its best to wear sturdy shoes/boots. Part of the loop is in the open, so bring sun protection and water. Well-behaved dogs are allowed, and must be on-leash. Meeting place: Lake Lagunitas Parking Lot at the end of Sky Oaks Road. Meet near the bathrooms. Time: 9:30 am. Please be prompt! We will do introductions at 9:35 and begin the hike directly thereafter. Please allow ample time to stop by the Park Kiosk to pay the fee and to get to the parking lot and gather your gear for the hike.
