@ Discover the art and tradition of handcrafted soap making in this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop with Jackie Williams in the Discovery Center classroom. Participants will explore the history of natural soap making, including the influence of traditional Gullah herbal skincare practices, while learning how to create nourishing soaps using natural ingredients. Through guided instruction, participants will gain practical skills and confidence as they mix, pour, and set their own custom soap. The workshop also includes an interactive scent station, herbal tea pairings, and a take-home guide with soap care tips and information on Gullah soaping traditions. By the end of the session, participants will leave with a personalized handcrafted soap and a deeper appreciation for the cultural traditions, natural ingredients, and techniques that make artisanal soap making both meaningful and practical.
