Have you ever found yourself sitting on the sidelines at a wedding or party, thinking: "I wish I knew what I was doing, I could actually be up there dancing"? Or maybe you know a couple dance styles, but nothing that works for the pop music and oldies you hear from a standard DJ or cover band? Perhaps you just want to expand your repertoire of dances so that you can attend more local socials, such as ballroom, Latin, swing, tango, country, etc. This class is for you! Beginner Social Ballroom is designed to introduce the fundamentals of popular social partnered dances, with the goal of preparing students for a wide variety of events, including weddings, reunions, fundraisers, parties, and ballroom socials. Each class session is designed to be accessible for complete beginners, so you can start any week and drop-in as often as your schedule permits. Each session will cover different, interconnected dances and concepts to build the students' repertoire using the power of translatable patterning. Instead of learning a bunch of patterns in one dance, you will learn how to do the same patterns in a bunch of different dances.
