Beginner Photography Class

About this event

Whether you just purchased your first camera or have been shooting in automatic mode for years, this beginner photography class is designed to help you feel more confident using your camera. Together, we will learn how to move beyond full automatic settings and begin shooting in manual mode while exploring the exposure triangle and how aperture can help create the beautiful blurred backgrounds that so many people love. We will begin in the community room and, weather permitting, head outside to practice what we learn in real life situations. Come spend time learning how to better capture the people and moments you love most through photography. This will be a hands-on class, so please bring your camera and let us know what type of camera you would like to learn more about. If you own an external flash, please bring that as well. About the Instructor: Julie Atlas opened her photography studio in September 2012 as a way to give back to the foster care community by helping children find permanent homes through the Heart Gallery of Virginia. Since then, she has become known for creating heartfelt, connection driven portraits that celebrate life's most meaningful moments. Julie specializes in family, maternity, newborn, and event photography, while also offering Living History Videos and Memory Montages that help preserve stories and legacies for future generations. Through her work, Julie is passionate about creating a welcoming experience where every family feels seen, celebrated, and valued.
