Beginner Chinese Series-Class 2: Greetings & Intros

Join us for Class 2 of our Beginner Chinese Series, where we will learn how to greet people and introduce ourselves in Mandarin Chinese! You are welcome to join even if you did not attend Class 1. We will spend some time reviewing key pronunciation concepts so new participants can easily follow along. This class is designed for complete beginners, but anyone interested in practicing basic Chinese conversation is welcome. No previous Chinese experience is required. During this session we will focus on some of the most common phrases used when meeting someone for the first time. What we will practice • Saying hello and basic greetings • Asking someone’s name • Introducing yourself • Saying “nice to meet you” • Simple polite expressions • Practicing short conversations in Mandarin This will be an interactive class with guided practice, partner activities, and group conversation exercises to help you become comfortable speaking basic Chinese. Class Outline 11:00 – 11:20 Welcome and review of pronunciation, tones, and pinyin concepts from Class 1. 11:20 – 11:45 Learning basic greetings and common conversation phrases. 11:45 – 12:10 Introducing yourself and asking someone’s name. 12:10 – 12:40 Guided partner conversations and pronunciation practice. 12:40 – 12:55 Interactive group activity practicing introductions with several people. 12:55 – 1:00 Review of key phrases and preview of the next class. 📍 Location Marmalade Branch Library- Conference Room 280 W 500 N Salt Lake City, UT 📅 Date & Time Saturday, April 11 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Beginner Chinese Series Overview Class 1 – Pronunciation & Tones Understanding pinyin, syllables, and the four tones.
