Learn to weave a basket by soaking and shaping natural reeds. Space is limited—register in advance. Registration will open to members on October 5 and to non-members on October 9. Click here for the November 7 class The basic twining method of basket weaving used in this workshop appears in diverse basketmaking traditions, including those of Indigenous peoples across North America, Appalachian and Euro-American communities, and English wickerwork. Each participant will make a small, round-reed, chained basket. Meets in Gathering Room A. $30 members, $35 non-members About Simone Montemurno Simone Montemurno is an interdisciplinary artist who makes paintings, sound works, and photographic books inspired by the cultural artifacts encountered at regional folk-art museums and overlooked archives. She earned her MFA from CalArts in 2011, and lives and works in Los Angeles This program is generously funded, in part, by Perenchio Foundation.
