Teens 13-19, join us in the Teen Zone to celebrate Banned Books Week with a movie screening of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a movie adapted from the Banned Book The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. We'll also be making bracelets and phone charms, and distributing information about the book and having a discussion about book bans. The Perks of Being a Wallflower remains consistent at being one of the top 10 books to be banned, year to year. It is a coming of age novel about Charlie, a freshman in high school who is a wallflower, shy and introspective, and very intelligent. He deals with the usual teen problems, but also with the suicide of his best friend. (Fiction, Young Adult).
