About this event

The Loft, Upper Level. A book club series where we discuss frequently challenged and/or banned books. This month we're reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky. The critically acclaimed debut novel from Stephen Chbosky follows observant “wallflower” Charlie as he charts a course through the strange world between adolescence and adulthood. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it, Charlie must learn to navigate those wild and poignant roller-coaster days of growing up. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is frequently banned and challenged in schools and public libraries primarily due to its raw depictions of sensitive adolescent experiences, including sexual content, LGBTQIA themes, substance use, and trauma. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cheshire Public Library.
