A woman finds a painting that may be worth millions. An art expert comes to judge it. When she buys an ugly painting at a thrift store as a gag gift, she becomes convinced she has stumbled onto the find of a lifetime: a lost Jackson Pollock worth millions. Enter Lionel Percy, a renowned art expert who has traveled across the country to determine whether Maude’s painting is the real thing. What begins as an authentication quickly becomes a funny, fierce battle over art, class, truth, and who gets to decide what something is worth. Inspired by true events, Bakersfield Mist is a sharp two-person comedy about one very questionable painting and two people absolutely certain they know what’s real. This production is intended for adult audiences and contains strong language and mature themes.
