A monthly program at the Brooklyn Public Library where we revisit some of the best (and worst) horror films ever shown at drive-ins, double features, and midnight screenings. To celebrate the Halloween season, this month we're hosting weekly screenings from John Carpenter's legendary Halloween series. Tonight's Showing: Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace Season of the Witch marks the Halloween franchise's attempted departure from Haddonfield and Michael Myers, taking place instead in sunny Santa Mira, California, where Dr. Daniel Challis decides to investigate the Silver Shamrock Novelties Company after the suspicious death of one of his patients. His sleuthing uncovers a terrifying conspiracy involving...well, a lot of crazy stuff. And whatever it is he'd better solve it quick, because the clock is ticking and Halloween night is right around the corner. When it was released Halloween III: Season of the Witch managed to disappoint the studios, the critics, and fans of the original movies. But through the years the film has gained a cult status, with some fans even dubbing it their favorite entry in the Halloween franchise. Think you'll be one of them?
