Avoid the Cannon Balls... Ft Desoto

A fun ride to close out the month with... and an additional hour of sleep tonight. So join in for a fun tour (trail) ride to Fort Desoto, at a slower 12 to 14 MPH pace. About a 20 mile ride. Beginning at Tierra Verde Community Center (on the right side of road - 1420 Pinellas Byway South) about three miles before the park entrance. We'll ride the trail into Ft Desoto (free admittance for bicyclists), then at the Flag, north to view the skyway bridge. Then south, stopping at beach facilities for a break before we ride the trail to a picnic/shore area for a break and hydration. Our route back takes us by the Fort for a few minutes and I'd suggest bringing your cell phone for photos. Then back to our cars. Please be advised that you are responsible for your own safety and bicycle riding abilities. There is little shade along this ride... and wind may be an issue as we're so close to the beaches.
