Room A/B. Join us for a meet and greet with local author, Paul Bastante. Paul is the author of the new book, Preakness. In 2018, Paul Basante produced, wrote, and narrated the historical documentary Hills and Valleys: A Journey Through Wayne, NJ, a film exploring the people, places, and stories that shaped the township. While researching that project, he uncovered a remarkable piece of history hiding in plain sight: the true origin of the Preakness Stakes name. The story traces back to Milton Sanford, a 19th-century textile magnate and Thoroughbred breeder whose champion horse, Preakness, lived right here in Wayne at Preakness Farms. That discovery became the foundation for Preakness, a nonfiction narrative that connects Wayne's local heritage to one of the most famous races in American sport. A proud US Navy veteran, Paul is also the founder of The AgeWise Institute™ and host of The AgeWise Podcast.
