Wednesday, Sept. 2nd Artist Talk with Visiting Artist Mahsa R Fard at 6:30pm September artist-in-residence at In Situ Polyculture Commons (Westminster, VT) Mahsa R. Fard (b. Tehran, Iran) is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work explores memory, identity, and the emotional tension between private and public spaces, shaped by her experience as a woman growing up in Iran. Her paintings often depict solitary figures in intimate interiors or overgrown Persian gardens, accompanied by recurring women busts drawn from her personal sketches and quiet witnesses that carry layered histories. Fard’s process blends planned composition with intuitive shifts. She often begins with source images that transform significantly through memory and emotion. Her use of color emerges instinctively, with tones like red and green carrying psychological and symbolic weight across her work. She received her BFA in Art and Architecture from Azad University in Tehran in 2014 and her MFA from the Hoffberger School of Painting at Maryland Institute College of Art in 2019. https://www.instagram.com/mahsa.r.f/
