About this event

Join artist George Roberts for a conversation about banned books and the art exhibit “Summer Reading.” Everyone is welcome to attend. On display at North Regional Library during October, “Summer Reading” is a selection of 33 books from the American Library Association list of the 100 most banned books, 1990 to 2000. Roberts taught these books to his high school students. When he came across the list of 100 banned books, he decided to alter the books he had taught in a way that celebrated their content but made them impossible to read. Sponsor: Friends of the Hennepin County Library. George Roberts is a visual artist, a poet and book maker, letterpress printer and the founding partner, with his spouse Beverly of the gallery, Homewood Studios, that opened in 2000 and is located in North Minneapolis. His fine letterpress, Downstairs Press, is set up at Homewood Studios. Roberts was a literature and writing teacher at North Community High School from 1970-2001.
