Instructor: Macrame Momma December 9: Away in a Menagerie: The Natural History of the Nativity with Xavier Moss The first Christmas may have been anything but a silent night. Join artist and biological illustrator Xavier Moss at the Orlando Museum of Art to explore the wild side of one of the world’s most familiar scenes: the Nativity. Which animals actually appear in the biblical accounts? Which wandered into the manger centuries later through art and tradition? And what might have really been crawling, flying, grazing, and growing around ancient Bethlehem? Explore how animals and nature became woven into the widely-seen picture of Christmas, then create your own nature-inspired Nativity artwork—reimagining the familiar scene as a living habitat filled with feathers, fur, dust, noise, and life. Step away from the silent night and into the menagerie. Future Members: $32 Members: $28 Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Please call 407.896.4231 ext. 261 or email dmatteson@omart.org to reserve your spot or register using the link below. We look forward to seeing you!
