Art in Bloom: Art Deco Floral Design

Bold colors, striking geometric forms, and elegant sophistication define the Art Deco era. Following a brief lecture and discussion exploring the characteristics and influence of this iconic design movement, participants will create their own floral arrangement inspired by the period. Using vibrant plant materials and distinctive geometric shapes, students will design a unique composition that captures the glamour and creativity of Art Deco style. This class also honors Grace Arents (1848 – 1926), whose love of gardening and vision helped shape the legacy of Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Arents bequeathed her property to become a botanical garden in memory of her uncle, Lewis Ginter. As we commemorate the centennial of her passing, we celebrate her passion for horticulture through beautiful floral arrangements created from both garden and florist-grown materials.
