About this event
From the ancient Greek concept of \Anthropos\ — the idea of humanity as a single, unified being is — to modern biology's revelation that we share nearly identical genetic blueprints, I would pose the question is are we really just one and the same? \- If you had been born into someone else's body\, family\, and circumstances\, would you not simply be them? And if so\, are any of us truly unique or just a product of conditions we never chose? \- Does our desire to feel different from one another prove that we are not the same — or does the fact that we all share that same desire suggest that we are? \- Are different cultures simply variations of the same human condition \(identity\, belonging\, etc\)? \- If we are all one and the same\, how do we explain the existence of cruelty? Would someone who truly felt their oneness with others be capable of causing harm? \- Does arguing that we are all the same risk erasing the very real pain of those whose differences: race\, disability\, trauma have been used against them? \- Why do cultures and societies that never meet each other independently develop the same concepts such as love\, justice\, and grief\. \- If we accepted that we are all one\, how would that change the way we treat each other — and why don't we already live that way?
