The acclaimed San Antonio architect Ted Flato, FAIA, will give a talk at the Maverick Carter House on Thursday, October 1, 2026, launching the new “Architecture & Arts” lecture series at the 1893 historic mansion. David Lake, FAIA, and Ted Flato, FAIA, cofounders of LAKE FLATO Architects, received their profession’s highest honor in 2024—the American Institute of Architects’ Gold Medal award. Among its past recipients are Frank Lloyd Wright, Santiago Calatrava, and Frank Gehry. They are the only Texas architects to receive the AIA’s highest award in its 119-year history.
