An Evening along the Anacostia ft. the Frederick Douglass brg

**This 4.3mile easy walk is flat & paved. Pace: 3mph.** The trek bops by the D.C. Navy Yard, alongside the Anacostia River. This walk **starts at Eastern Market metro station (OR/ BL/ SV line) & finishes at Anacostia metro station (GR line)**. Highlights include an artsy underpass, a drawbridge, & a gargantuan railroad gun. The walk first meanders past the [historical Eastern Market](https://easternmarket-dc.org/) then hikes to the [OLD NAVAL HOSPITAL](https://www.hillcenterdc.org/the-old-naval-hospital/), sauntering by the Ornamental Spirit Mosaic Sculpture en route. Once strolling on some scenic streets the trek ganders at the [Virginia Avenue park & garden](https://virginiaavenuecommunitygarden.com/) before a brief breaking point that offers an opulent overlook. Latter of the circuit parallels the altruistic Anacostia, traversing through [\[The\] Yards Park](https://theyardsdc.com/), which draws nightlife on the daily, then dawdles down to a dock. After crossing the (sometimes) ILLUMINATED [Frederick Douglass](https://www.nps.gov/frdo/learn/historyculture/frederickdouglass.htm) Memorial Bridge (pictured), the walk concludes following a frolic atop frivolous footprints.
