About this event
Dir. John Landis. 1981, 97 mins. U.S. DCP. With David Naughton, Griffin Dunne, Jenny Agutter. The rare humor-tinged horror that manages to be entirely terrifying and quite funny, Landis’s film follows two American backpackers whose destinies are changed forever when they decide to stray from the roads while traveling across rural England. After being bitten by a strange furry animal, David Kessler (Naughton) wakes up in a London hospital and finds himself plagued by ominous dreams and foreboding ghosts telling him to beware the next full moon. Rick Baker’s eye-popping practical makeup effects (which won an Oscar the first year the Academy added a makeup category) enhance this marvelous dark comedy that still has the power to make audiences scream and giggle. Griffin Dunne appears in an unforgettable supporting role as David’s friend, whose death can’t stop him from trying to hang out. Tickets: $17.50 / $12 senior and students / $10 youth / $7 MoMI members. There is a $1.50 transaction fee per ticket for all online purchases. The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership. Order tickets. Please pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission.
