Board Room. American Sign Language Class With Janet Parker October 7th, 14th, 21st, and November 4th at 5:30pm in the Board Room This is a 4-session class that will teach you the basics of American Sign Language. New to American Sign Language (ASL), looking for more practice, or hoping to refresh your skills? Build communication skills through receptive and expressive signing, ASL grammar, vocabulary, facial expressions, gestures, and an introduction to Deaf culture and community resources. Janet Parker Bio: I am Deaf, and ASL is my first language, followed by English. I have taught ASL for over 40 years in schools, colleges, community programs, businesses, medical centers, and with families of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children. I currently teach ASL at Husson University and via Zoom to families in Maine, Georgia, and Kansas. I communicate in ASL and spoken English, and I strive to make my classes welcoming, clear, and comfortable for all learners. I live in Fairfield and am a retired social worker who continues to teach ASL privately and publicly. Registration is required. You must be able to attend all 4 sessions.
