Welcome to the final chat of our 3-part series on American Philosophy. In our last two sessions, we explored Transcendentalism through thinkers like Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, who invited us to look inward and toward nature as sources of truth. *Pragmatism*, emerging a few decades later, takes a different turn. Shaped by the uncertainties of a rapidly changing America, philosophers like William James and Charles Sanders Peirce began to ask: what if truth is not something we discover in stillness, but something we test through experience? Rather than seeking certainty, they embraced doubt, seeing beliefs not as fixed truths but as tools, valuable insofar as they help us navigate the world. In this session, we’ll explore what it means to treat ideas as experiments rather than conclusions. How do we decide what to believe when certainty is out of reach? We’ll reflect on how Pragmatism reshapes our understanding of knowledge, science, and everyday decision-making. No reading is necessary. 🎉 Happy 250th Anniversary 🎉
