About this event

The lunar eclipse on this evening just misses being considered a total eclipse, but 96% of the moon’s surface will be in the Earth shadow. If there are no clouds in front of the moon, the Middle Georgia Astronomical Society will have telescopes available to view the eclipse (if the sky is cloudy, there will be no observing, but the following activities will still take place). A live broadcast of the eclipse from other locations around the world will be shown and reoccurring programs in the Mark Smith Planetarium will describe what causes eclipses. Feel free to come in your family-friendly pajamas with a pillow and view the eclipse while laying on bean bags, weather permitting! Entrance for this event will be through the planetarium door on the east side of the building. The museum will be closed and only the planetarium and observatory will be open. Admission by Donation.
