Almost Famous

Experience it. Enjoy it. Just don’t fall for it. Our second Volunteer of the Month pick comes courtesy of Steve, who has chosen Cameron Crowe’s 2000 love letter to rock’n’roll Almost Famous! In 1973, a precocious 15-year-old aspiring rock journalist lands a dream assignment from Rolling Stone to tour with a rising rock band, embarking on a coming-of-age journey as he discovers the exhilarating and heartbreaking realities behind rock stardom. Featuring Frances McDormand, Billy Crudup, Jason Lee, and Philip Seymour Hoffman as legendary rock critic Lester Bangs, and Kate Hudson in the unforgettable role of Penny Lane, this semi-autobiographical coming-of-age classic won Crowe an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and gave us one of cinema’s greatest looks into the adventure of being in the band.
