About this event
Grace Cathedral presents its annual Choral Eucharist for All Souls featuring the Fauré Requiem sung by the Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys with orchestra in the context of the liturgy. The Very Rev. Dr. Malcolm Clemens Young, Dean, will preach. Gabriel Fauré described his Requiem as a “Lullaby of Death” because he viewed mortality not with dread but as a peaceful deliverance. His setting departs from the bombast of the requiems of Verdi or Mozart, focusing instead on the themes of eternal rest, light, and comfort. The Fauré Requiem is a work of consolation and hope, deeply spiritual while speaking to the core of the human experience. Your tribute gift honors the memory of your own beloved dead and extends the good works begun during their earthly pilgrimage. Tributes received by Monday, October 26, will be recognized in the Requiem service leaflet and will combine with tributes received by Monday, November 2, for a full listing on our online Remembrance Page. When the online version of the service leaflet becomes available, you can view it here. Event Details The entrance to the cathedral is at the top of the Great Steps. The accessible entrance is via the glass doors on Taylor Street or from the cathedral garage. Masks are strongly encouraged inside the cathedral. Give to Grace Your gift helps Grace Cathedral realize its vision: a spiritually alive world. Give to Grace Today!
