After School Art Club (Ages 9 – 12)

For the first three Art Clubs, students will have the chance to work with our community printmaking artist, Hana Nichols. The remaining five sessions are with Erica Kirsch. 3-Part Class: Simple Silk Screens (September 30, October 7, October 14) Students will learn to make their own screen prints without the use of photo-sensitive chemicals. They will create their own drawings of leaves native to the Lake Superior Area, and then walk through the process of printing their drawings onto fabric. 5 Sessions from October 21 – November 18 Discover the creative possibilities of printmaking through a series of hands-on studio projects. Students will explore gelli plate monoprinting, collagraph printing, fruit and vegetable stamping, and linocut printing while learning about texture, line, shape, color, pattern, and composition. Participants will experiment with a variety of materials and create original works of art. The session will culminate in a pop-up exhibition where students will share and celebrate their artwork with family and friends.
