African Drumming Grand Master Bolokada Conde Comes to Detroit

### Please join internationally acclaimed Grandmaster Drummer Bolokada Conde for an unforgettable weekend of traditional Malinke drumming. Originally from Morowaya, Guinea, Conde served as the Lead Soloist of Les Percussions de Guinée, Guinea's National Ballet, for over a decade. A dedicated educator, he has taught around the world, including a tenure as full-time Visiting Artist at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2008 to 2011. He recently returned from an extended engagement in China. **What you'll learn:** Authentic West African rhythms, foundational and advanced hand technique, solo phrasing, and cultural context rooted in the Malinke tradition. All levels are welcome. **Registration:** This listing covers the Ferndale sessions (September 3–5). A separate sesson is available for the Sunday, September 6 session in Mount Clemens — see that listing to register for Sunday.
