Advanced and Intermediate Clay with Elliott Kayser

In this 14-week Advanced Intermediate Clay class, students will explore various techniques for functional pottery making. Each term, the curriculum shifts according to student interest, but demonstrations may include: nesting bowls, lids, spouts, and handles for teapots and other pouring vessels, zoomorphic animal-formed vessels, matching sets, and/or how to make large forms in multiple sections. We will also discuss decorative techniques, including slip trailing, stamping, and glazing, as well as an opportunity to be included in any soda firings that are scheduled during the upcoming semester.
