About this event
Simon Moullier is a French-born, New York-based vibraphonist, composer, arranger and producer recognized as one of the leading voices of his generation. Raised by the sea in Nantes, he arrived at Berklee College of Music at 18 and gravitated toward jazz vibraphone, later attending the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz (now the Herbie Hancock Institute) at USC, where he was mentored by Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Jimmy Heath. He holds a direct personal endorsement from Quincy Jones, who after hearing Moullier at the 2017 Havana Jazz Festival called him "the best vibes player I've heard." Moullier moved to New York just as the pandemic arrived — and proceeded to build one of the most complete and critically acclaimed careers in contemporary jazz, releasing six albums over six years. His work earned him a spot in DownBeat's "25 for the Future" (2024), back-to-back Rising Star Vibraphonist citations in DownBeat's Critics Poll, a profile on NPR's Jazz Night in America, and a GRAMMY® connection through arranging work on Laufey's Bewitched and Terri Lyne Carrington's GRAMMY®-winning New Standards Vol. 1. He has collaborated with Gerald Clayton, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ben Wendel, Marquis Hill, and the SFJAZZ Collective, and participated in Carrington's Max Roach & Abbey Lincoln Freedom Now Suite project. He is an EU citizen and an active international touring artist with a particular footprint in France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK. Simon Moullier: Vibraphone Lex Korten: Piano Rick Rosato: Bass Jongkuk Kim: Drums Tickets are $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers. Doors at 6:30 PM | Show at 7:00 PM Tickets
