The Spirit of Sunset Hills: History, Bourbon, and the Bowman Legacy Join the Reston Museum and the team from Fredericksburg’s A. Smith Bowman Distillery for a special panel discussion exploring the deep, spirited history of bourbon in Virginia, and the foundational role Reston played in that story. Before Reston was envisioned as a planned community, Sunset Hills Farm was home to Virginia’s only legal post-Prohibition whiskey distillery. Our panel will examine the Bowman family’s local roots, the evolution of Virginia distilling from the 1930s to today, and the enduring heritage that connects Reston to Fredericksburg.
