About this event
The Grammy Museum is thrilled to present a special night celebrating the music of the Broadway musical RAGTIME in an intimate conversation featuring the musical's songwriters, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, and cast members Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, Brandon Uranowitz, and Nichelle Lewis, plus a performance at The Greene Space at 44 Charlton St in NYC. This event is part of the Grammy Museum’s New York City program series, which brings the Museum’s renowned education and public programs to the city. “A New York Evening With…” is generously supported by the Dawn and Brian Hoesterey Family Foundation. ABOUT RAGTIME RAGTIME is a sweeping musical adaptation of E.L. Doctorow’s novel that follows three fictional families in pursuit of the American Dream at the dawn of the 20th Century: Black pianist Coalhouse Walker, Jr. and his beloved Sarah, Jewish immigrant Tateh and his little girl, and a wealthy white family led by matriarch Mother. All grasping for the same dream, if only they can hold on to it. Featuring a lush score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, a stirring book by Terrence McNally and original orchestrations by William David Brohn, all of whom won Tony Awards for their work, RAGTIME weaves fictional narratives with real historical figures and events, creating a rich tapestry that blurs the line between personal struggle and national identity, making history feel both intimate and epic. Kewsong Lee Artistic Director Lear deBessonet (Tony-nominated for her celebrated 2022 revival of Into the Woods) directed the new production, envisioned for the grand Vivian Beaumont stage, starring Tony Award winner Joshua Henry (Into the Woods, Carousel), Tony Award winner and Olivier and Grammy nominee Caissie Levy (Hair, Frozen), and Tony winner Brandon Uranowitz (Leopoldstadt, LCT's Falsettos). The album was released digitally on January 9, 2026 by Concord Theatricals Recordings and subsequently on 2-disc CD and 2-LP vinyl. The Grammy was produced by GRAMMY® Awa
